Nike Joins with Athletes to Thank Frontline Healthcare Workers

In recognition of frontline healthcare workers combating COVID-19 around the world, Nike will partner with nonprofit Good360 in the United States and local organizations across Europe to donate more than 140,000 pieces of footwear, apparel and equipment globally. The effort is led by messages of gratitude to healthcare professionals. From one athlete to another, Nike athletes recognize the physical and mental resilience of healthcare athletes. We teamed with Joshua Buatsi, Cristina Chirichella, Amandine Henry, Sabrina Ionescu, Anni Espar Llaquet, Ja Morant, Joc Pederson, Casey Short and Nafi Thiam to thank healthcare workers. These athletes joined with Nike to help announce the donation of 30,000 pairs of Nike Air Zoom Pulse to health systems and hospitals in Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis and New York City, and within the Veterans Health Administration. Transforming Nike Air to Help Frontline Healthcare Workers

Working closely with health professionals at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Nike's innovation, manufacturing and product teams have come together to provide for an urgent need: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of full-face shields and powered, air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to protect against the coronavirus (COVID-19). When OHSU shared its current face shield, finding a way to reproduce the equipment with Nike-owned materials and manufacturing facilities became an immediate goal. The aim was not just a high-functioning shield, but also one that allowed a simple model of production. OHSU's healthcare workers instantly became field testers of the prototypes and validators of the final equipment.  Nike's version of the full-face shield transforms elements of the brand's footwear and apparel into much-needed PPE. COVID-19 Community Response

Updated 2:00 PM PST, April 3 NIKE, Inc., will provide an additional $1.6 million to help local organizations meet immediate needs, such as food assistance and medical care, in key cities and communities around the world where our employees live and work. Our local communities are a critical part of our everyday efforts — whether that’s getting kids active, leveling the playing field for all or responding to this pandemic. These grants will support on-the-ground organizations that need it the most, such as health, social services and humanitarian organizations, food banks and COVID-19 response funds. Our people and our communities have always been at the core of who we are and what we do. Nike’s leaders, the Nike Foundation and Nike have committed more than $17 million to COVID-19 response efforts around the world.
